5.10 /var/log : Log files and directories #
5.10.1 Purpose #
This directory contains miscellaneous log files. Most logs must be written to this directory or an appropriate subdirectory.
5.10.2 Specific Options #
The following files, or symbolic links to files, must be in
/var/log, if the corresponding subsystem is
installed:
